Laurence Knapp

This class will examine Martin Scorsese as an essential American filmmaker who not only helps us make sense of how American cinema and culture have changed from the mid 1960s to the present, but how Scorsese has struggled as an auteur to make sense of his Italian-American roots, Catholicism, masculinity, the American Dream, and the excesses of the 1970s.
