Created in existing space across from the Des Plaines cafeteria, Oakton’s new student center will integrate student-related activities that had previously been scattered across campus. The center’s open layout will include floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Oakton's pond on the north side of campus, movable furniture that promotes student engagement and learning, multiple sustainability design features, and various student club meeting rooms. Ground breaking for the center took place summer 2016, with occupancy expected in spring 2017.
The Student Center is one of several projects in Oakton’s $68.5 million five-year Facilities Master Plan. The Oakton Educational Foundation has identified several naming opportunities that range in value from $10,000 to $200,000. Gifts of $500 or more toward the Student Center will also be recognized on a donor wall in the new center. Spaces available for naming include:
- Student Government Association (SGA) Executive Office
- College Program Board (CPB) Executive Office
- OCCurrence Student Newspaper Office
- Terrace overlooking Oakton Pond
- Student Lounge Main Lobby
Naming rights may be secured with multi-year pledges of up to five years, and gifts are tax deductible.
