Scholarship Deadline Approaching

Oakton students interested in applying for scholarships for the 2015-2016 academic year have until Tuesday, March 31, to complete their online application.

Every year, the Oakton Educational Foundation offers more than 100 scholarship opportunities to Oakton students. Last year, more than $590,000 were awarded in scholarships to 322 deserving students.

Scholarships have been established through the generosity of businesses, organizations, and individuals in the Oakton community. They reward student achievement, encourage student leadership and accomplishment, and provide financial assistance.

Criteria for each scholarship vary and examples of scholarship criteria include: enrollment status (e.g,. full time, 12 or more hours; part time, 6-11 hours), academic achievement, GPA, earned college credit, or pursuit of particular college majors. The Enrollment Center staff will gladly assist you in determining eligibility.

All awards are based on the availability of funds. Some scholarships provide complete or partial funding for tuition fees, while others provide for additional expenses, such as fees and books.

Deadline for submission of scholarship application is March 31, 2015. Applicants will be notified in July. Apply online now.

Oakton scholarships are generally awarded for one academic year (two semesters). Scholarship recipients must maintain eligibility requirements for each semester the scholarship is awarded. Current scholarship recipients may reapply for subsequent awards as long as eligibility requirements are met and funds are available.
