Des Plaines, Ill. (Aug. 20, 2025) — Oakton College is calling all performers — community members, students, and alumni — to take the stage this fall. Audition for “On the Verge or The Geography of Yearning,” the internationally acclaimed Six Piano Ensemble, and the bold, original Midwest-student showcase Play On.

One of the most imaginative works of the 20th century, “On the Verge” follows three Victorian lady travelers as they embark on a whimsical and thought-provoking journey to “Terra Incognita,” encountering unique times, places and connections along the way.
Roles Available:
Audition Details:
Prepare a contemporary monologue (1–2 minutes; not memorized) and be ready to read from the script.

Six Piano Ensemble
Conducted by Glenna Sprague
Join the six-piano group, showcasing an eclectic repertoire from classical to ragtime, jazz and popular music. The ensemble has performed at prestigious venues worldwide, including the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Vienna’s International Conference of the College Music Society, the Hawaii Music Teachers Association, the Chicago Civic Opera House, Navy Pier, and Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) national conferences across the country.

Play On! Student Playwrighting Festival
Directed by Oakton students and alumni
A lively mix of six daring, hilarious, and thought-provoking one-act plays and storytelling monologues written by community college students from across the Midwest.
Roles Available:
Casting females and males of all ages. Prepare a monologue or be ready for a cold reading.
