Curbside Services

The library offers curbside services for physical materials from the library. Patrons can request books from our catalog to be picked up from our library. Patrons can request our materials as well as materials from other I-Share libraries that are currently offering interlibrary loan services.

How It Works

Patrons can go to our new library catalog and login with your MyOakton login. When you find an item you want to borrow, click the link in the Get It section to request the item. If the catalog does not allow you to order the materials, the material is not something currently being loaned. Once the item is ready for pickup (items from other libraries are quarantined for 7 days), the patron will receive an email letting them know how to schedule a pickup time.

During your scheduled time for curbside pickup, you will be directed on where to meet us to pick up your materials on the campus of your choosing. If driving, we will place your items in the trunk. If walking up, we will place your items on a table so that you can pick them up at a safe social distance.

If you are a I-Share patron not from Oakton and wish to pick up at our library, please email renewlib@oakton.edu your name, library card number, and the book requested so that we can properly check out the item to you once it arrives.

Tuesday: 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Wednesday: 7:45 - 9:45 a.m.
Thursday: 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
Friday: 2 - 4 p.m.
Saturday: 12 - 2 p.m.

OCLC Interlibrary Loan

If you cannot find the item you are looking for in our cataloge-book collections, or databases, you can request it from other libraries. Simply fill out one of the forms below. Physical items received will first be quarantined for 7 days before being made available for curbside pickup.

Items Not Loaned at This Time

Due to quarantine restrictions, we will not be loaning the following items:

  • Kits
  • Textbook Reserves
  • Chargers

Oakton Community College is launching the Oakton CARES program to provide emergency assistance for students who were educationally disrupted and financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic in spring, summer, and/or fall 2020. Item Returns

Items due between January 1, 2020 and September 30, 2020 are now due date October 1, 2020.

Books can be dropped off at either campus without scheduling an appointment. Library technology returns must be returned using our curbside services. Items received will be quarantined for 7 days before they are removed from your account.

Book drops are located:

  • Des Plaines: just inside entrance 10 near parking lot A by the Performing Arts Center
  • Skokie: just inside entrance 1S in student street near the Lincoln Lot by the circle drive

Please wear a mask and only come if you are not presenting COVID-19 symptoms. If you do not have permission to be in the building per the Return to Campus plan, please exit the building as soon as you finish placing items in the book drop.
