Degree Works Evaluation Tool
Degree Works helps you track academic progress toward certificate or degree completion, so you can see how many classes you have left to complete a certificate or degree.
What is Degree Works Evaluation Tool
A Degree Works certificate/degree evaluation is an unofficial status report that displays your progress toward meeting degree or certificate requirements. The evaluation analyses your courses and credits–including transfer, proficiency, AP, and CLEP credits–and provides key information, such as:
- Courses in progress and completed, as well as classes you have registered for but not yet started.
- Grades and cumulative grade point average (GPA).
- How these courses fit into your current academic program–or, if you are thinking about a change, where they could fit into another program.
- Remaining course requirements for your degree or certificate.
Keep these facts in mind
- Degree Works is a reference tool you can use when meeting with your advisor. Oakton’s Registrar Services also uses the evaluation once you are ready to graduate.
- Degree Works evaluations are not official unless they are run and reviewed by the Registrar Services.
- Students may use Degree Works to evaluate any Oakton degree or certificate available since Fall 2020 (if you came to the College before that time, a Degree Works evaluation may not be available.)
How to Run a Degree Works Certificate/Degree Evaluation
- Log in to myOakton.
- Navigate to your Student Profile where you will find the link to Degree Works. You can also find the Degree Works tool by searching for the “Advising” or “Degree Works” cards in myOakton. Regardless of how you get to your degree audit, the audit should automatically display (see below). Note: For students who started at Oakton before Fall 2022, you will need to run a “What-If” audit to see a degree audit for your program.
- Choose “Academic” if you already have a declared program. If you want to see how your courses would count toward a different certificate or degree program, or if you started at Oakton before Fall 2022, choose the “What-If” option.
- Click the Process button.
