At Oakton, we know that students of all ages seek to learn more and develop skills that can open new career opportunities. People with training in the healthcare field are always in high demand, making it a key area of study.

We proudly offer a Continuing Education for Health Professionals (CEHP) program. Partnering with associations, human service organizations and other health care providers, our team of health professionals and adult educators use their expertise to create high-quality, cost-effective, continuing education programs both at Oakton and at off-site locations. These courses are designed to give you the training you need in order to maintain your professional license and continue working in the healthcare field.

All of the following CEHP programs are approved through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations:

  • Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professional Board (ICDVP)
  • Cannabis Dispensary and Patient Care Specialist

All of our CEHP programs are approved through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations.

Through the Alliance for Lifelong Learning (ALL) program, Oakton also offers continuing education classes in dietetics, the study of human nutrition and the regulation of diet. You can study to become a dietitian and help people better their health and their lives by recommending a nutritious diet based on their medical history and needs.

Our dietitian program is accredited by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.

Credentials for Healthcare Professionals

Continuing education hours are submitted through applications on an as-needed program basis for the following professions:

  • National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. (CECH) for certified health education specialists.
  • Registered nurse contact hours through the Wisconsin Nurses Association.
  • The Illinois Certification Board, Inc. (IAODAPCA) for addiction professionals.
  • The Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) for Radiation and Nuclear Medicine Technicians for Radiology Technologists.
  • Association of Play Therapy for mental health clinicians.
  • Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professionals (ICDVP) for certified domestic violence professionals.
