Embark on your educational journey by clicking register for that first class. A convenient way to do this is by registering online. Once you click register, you will be taken to our registration portal (part of myOakton). There you can register, waitlist, drop, or re-add a course.
Follow These Steps
Registration can be completed online through the myOakton student portal. See the steps to register for courses online below:
In the ‘Subject box’, highlight the subject (e.g. English)
In the Course Number box, enter the course number (e.g. 101)
In the Campus box, select desired Campus Location
Select the Search button at the bottom
Select ‘Add’ for desired course
Click Submit at the bottom right of the page
Confirm the changes by checking the Student Schedule. All classes that have been successfully registered for will appear in the schedule, along with other course information (meeting times, instructor name and email, book information, etc).
If you are unable to register for courses online, please contact the Enrollment Center at 847.635.1700.

If the class has the waitlist option, an error message will indicate how many waitlist seats are available.
If there are waitlist seats available, select the drop-down menu under Action.
Select the ‘Waitlisted’ option
Click 'Submit' at the bottom right of the page
A waitlist provides students an opportunity to register in a course without having to watch for an open seat constantly. If there are enough students on the waitlist, the department may choose to open a new section. Students are placed on the waitlist in order on a first-come-first-served basis. Students have 24 hours to claim an open waitlist seat.
Most classes have a waitlist. You must meet all the course requirements before getting added to the waitlist. This means you should meet all the course prerequisites, have no registration holds on your account, and meet all restrictions such as placement, prerequisites, and corequisites.
Courses previously on your student record will need to be re-added via the dropdown box on your registration summary. This includes courses you were previously registered for within the same semester, or a Waitlisted course with an available seat.
Adding or withdrawing from a class later in the semester may impact future refund dates. To become familiar with refund deadlines, view Tuition Refunds.
