University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

Oakton partners with the UIUC on the following terms for guaranteed admission into The Grainger College of Engineering.  

Criteria

To qualify, students must:

• be Illinois residents who graduated from an Illinois high school or homeschooled.
• be enrolled or planning to enroll in an Illinois community college.
• be a first-time, degree seeking applicant.
• be applicants whose previous college credits will not prevent them from maintaining the minimum GPA requirements of 3.50 (overall and technical) after their second semester in the program.

Special Notes

• Applicants who have completed or are in the process of completing two or more semesters of technical coursework are recommended to apply as a traditional transfer instead of retaking coursework as part of the Engineering Pathways Plan of Study.
• To remain in the program, student must:
  • follow the engineering pathways plans of study.
  • maintain a 3.5 GPA overall and in technical coursework.
    • Note: Technical coursework includes chemistry, computer science, math, physics, and engineering.
  • earn a B or better in each required course that averages to a 3.5 GPA or better.
  • participate in mandatory advising and programming.
  • complete 15 credit hours or more per semester.
  • complete all courses in which they enroll.
    • Note: dropping/withdrawing from a required course OR failing to earn a B or better in a required course will jeopardize program standing.

Oakton students who complete an Associate of Arts (A.A.) or Associate of Science (A.S.) degree are guaranteed admission to UIUC as a junior, including automatic fulfillment of all general education requirements. 

Criteria

To qualify, students must:

• be an Illinois high school graduate.
• have earned a minimum of 36 transferable semester hours at the time of application.
• have attained a minimum grade point average of 3.0 in all transferable coursework completed at any college/university within the United States at the time of application.
• have satisfied the university's English language proficiency requirement.
