Lake Forest College Pathway Scholars: Women's and Gender Studies

What is it?

Oakton students who seek a minor in Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies and have completed their associate of arts degree or 60 transferable semester hours are eligible for the Pathway Gender, Sexuality, and Women;s Studies Scholars program. **

This program offers with guaranteed admission for accepted students. No additional application is required. Students must meet a prescribed curriculum (please see transfer guide) and have a minimum 3.25 GPA for consideration.

Benefits

  • Admitted students will receive a guaranteed $20,000 or $25,000 ($30,000 if GPA of 3.75+) PTK scholarship.*
  • All Pathway Humanities Scholars are eligible for a Guaranteed Internship. 
  • Pre-advising during your time at Oakton by Lake Forest College faculty on course selection.
  • Advising from our Career Advancement Center staff on internships, and career opportunities.
  • Early registration for classes during the initial registration period.
  • Students earning a 3.6 GPA or higher in their first semester will have the option of selecting a fifth course for free in the second semester.
  • Pathway Scholar recognition on their Lake Forest College transcript.

Application

If a student is admitted to the Pathway Scholars program, an additional admission application is not needed at the time of transfer.

Pathway Scholar Programs at Lake Forest College

*Please note that eligible Phi Theta Kappa students will receive the $25,000 Phi Theta Kappa scholarship and the special Pathway designation and benefits listed below for either the Pathway Environmental Studies, or the Pathway Humanities, or Pathway Business scholarships. The maximum amount of merit-based scholarship is $25,000.

** Students will be evaluated at the end of every academic year at the College. Pathway Scholars are required to maintain a 2.0 GPA.
