Columbia College of Chicago Guaranteed Admission

What is it?

Oakton and Columbia agree to a cooperative relationship to better serve students and to facilitate the transfer process from Oakton to Columbia through a Guaranteed Transfer Admission Program. Students in the program also qualify for scholarships, depending on the grade point average.

  • Students must fill out the participation form to join the program
  • Students are guaranteed admission to the Bachelors of Arts programs if they have completed a minimum of twenty-four (24) transferable credit hours at Oakton with a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 and meet the writing requirements.
  • Selective programs in the BMUS, BS, and BFA degrees will need to meet additional admission requirements.
  • Columbia will accept 75 credits in transfer.
  • Scholarships will be awarded for students with 2.75 GPA and higher, ranging from $4,000 to $8000 rising as the GPA increases.  Scholarship levels are listed below.

Columbia will participate in Reverse Transfer if the student transfers before earning an Associate degree


Participation Details

Program Participants must have graduated from high school (as evidenced by a high school diploma or GED), and have completed a minimum of twenty-four (24) transferrable credit hours at Oakton with a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale on all transferrable coursework taken at Oakton. At the time of application to Columbia, the Program Participant must be degree-seeking at Oakton and in good standing at Oakton.

Program Participants must complete both EGL 101 and EGL 102 with final grades of “C” or higher to meet the English proficiency requirements at Columbia.
